As moms of kids ranging from 2 – 18 we understand that kids might feel anxious or nervous about starting a new activity in a new environment with new people. That’s a lot of new things to think about! We want to make everything as easy as possible for you and your dancer! Take a minute to look over these simple tricks with your dancer to give you both peace of mind that at Jeanne’s you’re in good hands that care about the every dancer.
1 – Set out your dance clothes and dance bag the night before. This gives you a chance to talk about the new leotard she got or why ballet shoes are special shoes. You can reassure her that you will be there to meet her new teacher and can’t wait to see what she’s learned!
2 – Plan to arrive at the studio a few minutes early. You’ll be able to finish any paperwork necessary for registration, have plenty of time to help your dancer feel settled and meet her teacher and new dancing friends.
3 – Probably the most important thing . . . lots of hugs and kisses! Starting something new can be scary at first. Let her know you’re proud of her for trying something new. Don’t forget to take lots of before class/after class pictures too! (Psst. Our teachers LOVE to pose for pictures with their dancers too!)

Miss Amy: I love teaching kids and watching that "A-ha!" moment happen when all the dots connect and the light bulb goes on! There's nothing better!
