I love this time of year! It's fun. It's festive. It's even frosty occasionally! But for busy moms (and dads and grandparents and, really any adult out there who interacts with kids) it can also be the most stressful time of year. A neighbor of mine works with a crisis center and she said the two times during the year that are the busiest with calls are Winter Break and Summer Break. I have to admit, my sanity tips over the edge at times being busy with my family. I am fortunate to have a wonderful husband and extended family members (including an amazing sister!) who are great to bring over a dose of chocolate to bring me back to the sane side of life and put a smile on my face!
I found some great tips in Women's Day to take the stress out of your life for the Holidays. Ok, none of these will actually clear out your calendar completely but keeping a few of these in mind might help you keep from losing yours!

Best tips recommended by Women's Day:
*Don't multi-task. Focus your attention on what's at hand. If you're making cookies take time out to eat a few chocolate chips out of the bag!
*Create a holiday playlist. Nothing makes you feel merry and bright faster than seasonal songs. Research shows that listening to music can crank down stress hormones, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and kick your anxiety to the curb.
*Make friends with Frosty. "When you exercise, your body produces endorphins, which are the happy chemicals in your brain," says Dr. Abramowitz. After going outside with the Frost, "You'll come back inside with a different mindset."
*Create your own calm. Decided on one word that describes the holiday season you want to have this year. It could be Peace, Joy, Love, Family or Service. Write it on an index card and tape it to the bathroom mirror. Glancing at your word will remind you of what you really want and make it easier to cute loose anything else that is distracting you from your goal.
Miss Amy: I love teaching kids and watching that "A-ha!" moment happen when all the dots connect and the light bulb goes on! There's nothing better!
