Today’s teens have stress triggers bombarding them all the time. It seems like every day brings a new challenge. Our teens should value competition, strive to do their best, have a sincere work ethic, be honest and appreciate loyalty. It's our job as parents to motivate them to become amazing adults without compromising their health due to the many stress factors surrounding them. So here’s a few tips to keep the peace at home and a happy healthy teen too!
Spend time together
Learn to listen
Be a role model
Get your teen moving
Keep an eye on their sleep – or lack of
Teach work/time management skills
Be their guide - Don’t try to solve all their problems
Stock up on healthy foods
And my favorite - give them a hug. We all want to be a kid and have a hug once in a while!

Wouldn't it be great if everyday the kids came home with clean hands, homework time went smoothly, laundry magically washed-dried-folded itself and everyone was still smiling at the end of the day? Well, until I find that magic washing machine, here's a few ways to de-stress at home and maintain balance in your life in and out of the dance studio!
At Jeanne's, we support a healthy state of mind and balance between school, home and dance. Sign up on our homepage for an Intro Class and you'll see the difference a little Life Balance can make!

The only person busier than a dancer is her mom! Juggling school drop-off & pick up, dance classes, rehearsals, performances, homework - it's a wonder we make it through the day! And the most hectic time is right after school when kids have the munchies and need a little re-fueling before the next activity. This is especially true if they are off to the dance studio for several hours of class. So, to make your life a little easier, here's a quick list of healthy snack ideas for Busy Dancers - and MOMS!
1. Take bananas, apples or celery and spread with your favorite kind of nut butter.
2. Nuts, dried fruit and dark chocolate chips. Mmmm. . . . Miss Amy might need to share that snack with you!
3. Protein Style Mini Sandwich. Take a thin slice of roasted turkey breast or chicken and lay it flat. Put 1 piece of cheese in the middle and add a slice of avocado or cucumber in the middle and roll it up. Easy to eat and transport in a dance bag!
4. String cheese and crackers.
5. Low-fat yogurt and granola. (Another fav of Miss Amy!)
6. Popcorn - and you could go crazy and add nuts or yogurt covered raisins!
7. PB&J on whole grain bread.
This blog post made me hungry so I'm gonna run make a snack!

Do you ever feel like life is one balancing act? You keep teetering one way, then the other but have a hard time finding that balance in the middle? It seems like in our house, balancing school, sports, scouts, dating (oh yes - we have entered THAT phase of life) and family time gets harder and harder. Even eating dinner together is challenging with kids ranging in age from 1st grade to a senior in high school!
This has been a mental struggle for me as my boys have gotten older. I've come to the conclusion that some days are just going to be a hot mess! But if I look for opportunities, I can find ways to keep us in the same room - even if it's just for a few minutes. Even cleaning the house, doing dishes, putting away laundry - as horrible as that sounds - when we do it together is more fun that flying solo. And the bonus is it gives me a chance to talk to the kids about school and "stuff!" Lol.
Balancing everything is hard. At Jeanne's, we really appreciate you sharing your kids with us for a few hours every week! We know how precious that time is and are grateful to be part of your family's life. We strive to help all our Dance Families maintain balance between school, dance and home the best we can because we feel it's important in our own families too.
If you're looking for a fantastic outlet to allow personal growth, creativity, social interaction and out of the box thinking, while still maintaining balance at home - you've found the place! But don't take our word for it! Check out what these moms said HERE!

Miss Amy: I love teaching kids and watching that "A-ha!" moment happen when all the dots connect and the light bulb goes on! There's nothing better!
