With Friends Week just around the corner - we're loving our Recital Theme, "Just Keep Dancing!" Inspired by everyone's favorite blue tang fish, Dory has great wisdom for us all; believe in yourself, have faith in your friends and never give up. We hope our theme "Just Keep Dancing" will inspire those same qualities in all our dancers this year!
Do you have a BFF (or two) in mind you'd like to bring to Friends Week? We hope so! All week long, March 7 - 11th, all Friends can take classes for FREE! Check out the theme days for Friends Week below and dress up too!
So, when life gets you down what do you do? Just keep dancing! And even better - keep dancing with your friends!

In our family, all our boys are part of the BSA scouting program. It's been a great tool to teach them about learning a variety of new skills, working with people, and setting goals. Goal setting can be tricky for kids and if you're not in the habit of doing it, learning to do it may not seem very exciting. I'm very grateful for opportunity my kids have had to set goals, re-adjust if necessary, get help and learn from the experience. It's how we progress as people. We try, we might fail but even if we do we learn.
Thomas Edison said in speaking about his journey in inventing the light bulb, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." That's an illumintaing example of how to set a goal, and learn from the journey.
Click HERE to read an article from scholastic.com with fabulous tips for teching kids about setting goals. There's really great advice on finding a SMART goal, include someone who can help, set a goal based on action not circumstance, the benefit of writing down your goal and how modeling goal setting behavior can be a great influence.
At Jeanne's, we want to help each dancer - young and not as young- set and achieve their goals. So dream big! And let us help you create a path to take you there. Our GOAL is to make those dreams come true!

What's one of the greatest gifts we can give kids today? A firm understanding of their self-worth. I'm not talking about bloating kids minds with an overabundance of compliments that become so commonplace they lose meaning. No, I'm talking about giving kids a solid understanding of who they are and helping them decide what they want to accomplish.
When my 3rd oldest son was in pre-school the teachers told me "He has great leadership skills!" It was their very positive way of saying his personality and way of putting himself in charge at school demonstrated confidence to be a leader. At home we called it "pushing his own agenda" - and sometimes it lead to be unaware of others feelings.
I figured if we could live through the daily negotiating, one day his annoying way of discussing every request I made would someday make him a great and confident young man. I love that now as a 12 year old, he is confident in his ideas and not afraid to voice his opinions. He is going to be a dynamic leader someday.
I'm grateful to those pre-school teachers for recognizing that strength in him when I considered it an annoyance. They changed my perspective and that has helped me be a better mom for him.
Every staff member at Jeanne's wants each child to walk away with growing confidence every day. Our job is to teach dance and technique but our hearts pour out support and encourangement so those budding seeds of confidence can grow in big ways!

Let's face it - most of us are really young at heart. We still like to watch cartoons and silly movies, go to the park and swing while the wind blows through your hair, run like a kid through amusement parks to get to your favorite ride, and even get giggly when talking to our BFF's. The kid inside is alive and well - thank goodness!
In our Adult Classes, we're no different! We're a fearless group who above all else LOVE TO DANCE! We learn, sweat and laugh together because we all want the same thing - to pursue the joy that dancing brings! It puts a big smile on our face and lights up our eyes. I could go on and on but just CLICK below to watch our amazing Adult Tappers and you'll see how young dancing can make you feel!

Miss Amy: I love teaching kids and watching that "A-ha!" moment happen when all the dots connect and the light bulb goes on! There's nothing better!
